Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 213 labeling requirement
for car seats anticipated for February 27, 2014 just adds to the

In too many instances, parents are confused about how to correctly install their child's seat, don't know that every seat doesn't fit in every car, or they don't realize that their vehicle is equipped with the Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system.

ReplyDeleteI never got it... if you buy something surly you would want to find out how to use it correctly...it amazes me how ignorant some people can be, especially that we are talking about child safety here...
ReplyDeleteWe have learned so much about car seats after our son was born. I don't feel we were ignorant, just uninformed. We had the seat set correctly and he was firmly strapped in according to all instructions with our car seat, but it wasn't until talking with other parents that we learned about things like no jackets in car seats.
ReplyDeleteI wish that they had this type of system when my kids were little. The car seats never seemed to be secure enough for my satisfaction especially with my oldest. He's 21 now. :) Thankfully we learn more about safety every year.
ReplyDeleteI don't trust myself to install the car seat effectively. Actually, the only person I trust to do it and do it right is my husband because he's such a perfectionist that he'll test and make sure the fit is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis has always been a concern with my children. I've been through five but still worry constantly about how well they are strapped in. And this post just reminded me to check and readjust his to make sure that it's still adjusted just right for him. TY for the reminder.
