Lately, Sutter Home has been my go to wine for all my summer entertaining needs, especially when my girlfriends are over. Sutter Home is the perfect choice to bring a variety of flavors to your summer fun. It's family owned, award-winning wines like my new favorite, Merlot are affordable and delicious! Plus, it pairs amazing with one of my favorite Pastelitos (filled pastries) Guava and Cream Cheese. These delicious Pastelitos have a crisp, buttery puff-pastry shell. They're so good and super easy to make. With a glass of Merlot, it's even BETTER.

Sutter Home Merlot is a dry wine. It's fresh and smooth with black berry flavors and hints of smoke and spice. This wine is perfect for long weekends and lengthy chats aka girls night. It pairs great with foods like Guava, which is a very thick puree of guava fruit. One of my favorite desserts growing up were Guava and Cream Cheese Pastelitos. I remember my mom always buying them for me and thinking "these pastelitos must be so hard to make" but boy was I wrong. Let's just say my girlfriends and husband absolutely love this easy recipe. All you need are a few ingredients and of course a bottle or two of Sutter Home Merlot.

First, Start with thawed Puff Pastry on a lightly floured work surface.

Next add your mashed Guava Paste and Cream Cheese

Better yet, Here is my Recipe for Guava and Cream Cheese Pastelitos

Ingredients:
1 Large Egg Yolk
1 Tablespoon of Milk
All-purpose Flour - For Dusting
One package of Puff Pastry, Thawed
6 Ounces of Guava Paste, Mashed
6 Ounces of Cream Cheese, Chilled
Sugar - For Sprinkling

Instructions:
Preheat the Oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolk with the milk.
On a lightly floured work surface. Unfold the puff pastry and cut it into 6 squares. Transfer the squares to a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Cut the Guava Paste into 6 equal portions and spoon onto half of each pastry square. Top with Cream Cheese. Brush the pastry edges with some of the egg wash. Fold the pastry over the filling to form rectangles and crimp the edges with a fork. Refrigerate for 15 minutes, or until firm.
Brush the pastries with the remaining egg wash and sprinkle with Sugar. Bake in the center of the oven for 30 minutes, rotating the pan from front to back halfway through, until the pastelitos are golden. Let cool for at least 20 minutes before serving. Serve with a Glass of Sutter Home Merlot.

And just like that you have crisp, buttery Guava and Cream Cheese Pastelitos just like from the bakery.

These Guava and Cream Cheese Pastelitos were a hit with all my Girlfriends, Parents and Husband! Do you have a recipe you will pair with Sutter Home Merlot? Check out UncorkTheMoments.com for more delicious recipes and be sure to follow Sutter Home on Facebook and Twitter for more updates.
